Rand Hoppe of The Jack Kirby Museum (www.kirbymuseum.org) and I (Tom Kraft, (www.whatifkirby.com) will be at this year's San Diego Comic Con International. The Kirby Museum will be set up at booth 5520 and I will be set up at Bechara Maalouf's Nostalgic Investments' original art booth 4403.
As in years past, Rand and I will have large format professional scanners to archive Kirby original art for the Kirby Digital Archive (KDA). KDA is a project we started in 2006 to archive Jack Kirby's original art for study, research and to preserve, with all the natural and man made disasters, Kirby's legacy for us now and future generations. We scan at 600dpi+, archival digital negative format (DNG), front and back of the art. If you have Kirby art, please stop by either booth and have it archived for the future!
So whats different this year?
Upon request we will demo the new Kirby Digital Archive site to be added to the Kirby Museum website. It will be the What if Kirby's Gallery section on steroids! So stop by the museum booth and take a look at the future!
And...I am working with Barry Ira Geller to restore all the Lord of Light posters used for Argo. Scanned in high resolution from the original negatives created in 1994 from the original art, these restored/remastered prints will be the best possible quality and will be incorporated into a future portfolio. Stop by and see the first example prints, printed at 2,880dpi on archival 2ply bristol board.
Hope to see you all there! Tom
