WiK and The Kirby Museum Attending Hawthorne Comic Con

May 6, 2011
Hawthorne Comic Con

Rand Hoppe of the Jack Kirby Museum and me, Tom Kraft of What if Kirby will attend next weekend's Hawthorne Comic Con. The museum will have a booth and we plan to bring a scanner in case there is any Kirby art to achieve. If you're in the area and plan to attend, and have Kirby art for archiving, please bring it along. Joe Sinnott (tentively), Dick Ayers and Herb Trimpe are among the planned guests to the show. Entry fee is only $4.00. Below is more information I found on the web. They have no "office" website for the event.

New Jersey's premier comic book convention the Hawthorne High School Comic Convention is back on May 14th for it's sixth show. Join the students of the Cartooning and the Art Clubs as we present New Jersey's premier comic book art gathering.

There will be appearances by comic book creators and dealers. Art lessons will be presented all day by the comic professionals and we will have our incredible auction of original comic art, graphic novels, rare comics and other great items.

The convention is held to celebrate the great American art form, comics, and to raise funds for our high school's talented art department. The art lessons will include many of the skills needed to create comics. The art lessons are for all ages and skill levels.

This is an extremely "kids friendly" event. Our art lessons are for all ages and there will be "kid friendly" items in the art auction.
