Prime Kirby's FF… Couldn't ask for more and yet I know that Tom is on fire and on his way to deliver plenty more!
Had to add this to my portfolio. Sinnott's inks are beautiful as always.
The lettering is magnificent. It's arranged beautifully. Those guys really
knew how to compose their balloons on the page.
You're right, Artistram, the design and placement of the balloons on this and many other sixties Marvel pages was excellent. I'd be inclined to give Stan Lee some of the credit for that, not just the letterers, since Stan's technique was to write the copy directly onto the boards in pencil before the actual inked lettering was done. Stan may have been a fairly unethical person in that he often took both the credit and the money for other people's work, but no one could deny his talent at balloon placement. He was one of the best ever in that department. P.S. I wonder if Quasimodo and Modok were related!
