I bought this immediately it appeared!

Still own Steve Gerber's cry of rage against Marvel. Alfredo Alcala - a brilliant inker - would not have been the first man I would have thought of to ink Kirby, but it ends up looking quite nice.

It's what Jack needed

Considering Jack's pencils in the 80s and 90s. I feel Jack needed a strong inker to fill in the gaps of his loose and sometimes distorted pencils. Alcala did a great job. I have seveal more pages in the archive from this series. I'll post some more soon.

I'm no fan of overpowering inkers with the exception of a few ones like Alcala or Wood, depending if they match the artist or subject they are inking or simply because they can rescue almost anything.
This type of inker is often called on to save some poor artwork.
Of course, I don't think it's the case here, Alcala did a good job getting the best from Kirby and himself : a true curiosity.
